abstract note	The article deals with the description of the Pre-revolutionary historiography on the Babi religion and the Bahai faith. The research aims to reveal a positive attitude of the first Russian Middle East scientists to the new faith and their deep scholar interest to the new prophets Bab and Bahaullah. The purpose of the research is to show the interest of the Pre-revolutionary culture representatives to the Bahai faith. The result of the research is a testimony of the Bahai faith influence on some Russian cultural elite representatives (Leo Tolstoy, Vladimir Soloviev).
