abstract noteAllison’s plane lands in New York on a wintry November afternoon in 1998. In America she attempts to escape the stasis of life in Australia as she fears that little time is left if her cancer returns; she must attempt to live every part of her life as if it is was the last. Enrolled in a philosophy degree at Columbia University she sets about her life, trying to unravel her existential emptiness. In the previous year, she began to experience strange altered mental patterns, and from this, she fears an emerging madness, but beyond and within this madness, she finds rhythms of convergence. Her life begins to synchronize perfectly with those around her. She passes into a world of immortality, where the dualities, in reality, merge into complete oneness. Looking for answers to her strange experiences, she flounders until she meets Hooman. Together they begin to explore religious and philosophical ideas and particularly the principles of Hooman’s religion: the Baha’i Faith. They come to realize that the world they knew never existed to begin with; this new world, both disturbingly beautiful and sublime, rises up to meet them, and they will never be the same again.
