abstract noteThe Bahá'í Year of Service Program (BYSP) is a new concept in youth service. The program provides opportunities for young people between the ages of 12 and 25 to serve in a wide range of activities both domestically and abroad. This disseration focuses on the BYSP in the United States. Of the approximately dozen year of service programs in the world, that of the United Stats is the oldest and most experienced. The program is discussed from its beginning in the early 1980s to the present. Emphasis is on identifying the underlying principles upon which the program is based.
