abstract note	It is suggested that in order to arrive at apposition where discourse can be held around human rights and climate change, first a stronger grasp needs to be achieved on the nature of assumptions – in part about human nature and notions of prosperity – how they influence dialogue and structures which then serve to reinforce and perpetuate these same assumptions. This type of assumption analysis is largely absent from the discourse, an interesting paradox considering it is largely these assumptions which have engendered patterns of thought and action that see a wayward generation liquefying at alarming rates the environmental capital of the planet. An argument is made that both rational and transrational sources of knowledge should be acknowledged when analyzing insights into assumptions and that engaging in discourse with others of varying viewpoints is one method by which individuals and organizations can make assumptions explicit. The attempts at two organizations to engage in discourse related to the themes in the paper are also explored.
