abstract note	This compilation is meant as a hand-book, a collection of useful materials arranged for ready reference as Bahá'í communities take up the task of building the Mashriqu'l-Adhkár, the "place where God is remembered" or House of Worship. It is not a scholarly analysis or a historical record, and it is not exhaustive. Because the focus is on present and local needs, many texts relating to the construction of the national and continental Mashriqu’l-Adhkárs have been omitted. Building the Mashriqu'l-Adhkár is an evolutionary process that begins in the individual heart and is gradually perfected and extended in institutional and physical forms, The texts have been selected to provide a clearer conception of what the Mashriqu'l-Adhkár is as a spiritual reality and as an institution, and its relationship to the Local Spiritual Assembly and other organs of the community.
