| abstract note | Bahaism was founded by Mirza Hussein Ali, called Bahaullah, with the claim of being a new religion. Iranian culture and the Mahdi belief, the political instability that affected the whole world at that time, and the Sheikh sect had a great influence on the emergence of Baha'ism. The first seeds of Baha'ism were sown with the Babism movement founded by Mirza Ali Muhammad. Bahaullah, who was previously a student of Mirza Ali Muhammad, founded his own school after his death and declared his prophethood. After Mirza Hussein's death, his son Abdulbaha took over, and then Abdulbaha's grandson Shoghi Effendi. Before his death, Shoghi Effendi ensured the systematization of the movement and left the Baha'i administration to the Universal House of Justice in Haifa, Israel. Today, the House of Justice is responsible for the governance of Baha'is. The House of Justice communicates with Baha'is around the world through National Spiritual Assemblies in every country and Local Spiritual Assemblies in every city. Baha'i faith is based on the unity of God and the continuity of the prophets. According to them, prophecy never ends. Just as God has chosen people such as Moses, Jesus and Muhammad as prophets throughout history, He has now sent Baha'u'llah. His book Akdas also abrogated the Holy Quran. There are some teachings that Baha'ism emphasizes. These are teachings such as the unity of the human universe, world peace, equality between men and women, general education, universal auxiliary language, and the unity of all religions. Baha'is have religious practices such as prayer, fasting, almsgiving and pilgrimage, but their practices are different from other religions. In addition, they also have their own rituals such as saying Allahu Abha 95 times a day, reading God's law and holy verses. In Baha'ism, catechism issues have not yet been detailed. However, it is possible to come across various rules on issues such as marriage and divorce, inheritance and will, and the status of addictive substances. |
