| abstract note | What religion do you profess? How to respond to this question without resorting to automatic formulas or the absurd contradiction of calling oneself "non-practicing"? This text puts events, signs, issues, forms of the religious phenomenon on the table for discussion, in the light of the experience of one who has linked his own experience to that of others. A religious stance is proposed, and the attempt is made to describe the nuances or outlines that this stance entails with respect to institutionalized churches, rites, ecumenism, spirituality, conversion. The text works as a deconstruction of the author's personal creed and confession, the way a philosopher of religion might approach the subject, or a convinced and questioning practicing believer. |
