| abstract note | A Journey from Faith to Certitude is a realistic journey that takes the reader on a unique emotional journey, a breathtaking experience for an ordinary Egyptian family. This trip dealt with diverse and intertwined human moments and situations at the same time. Turbulent sea of emotions and mixed thoughts. A feeling of joy and happiness, which gets dissipated by a feeling of doubt and uncertainty, turns into a state of fear of the unknown. Despite the disparate nature of these emotions, they are all anchored by an unwavering commitment to our principles and an unrelenting pursuit of the Truth - a steadfastness that remains resolute in the face of any challenge. Unlike those who blindly follow the well-trodden path of their forefathers, believing it to be the safest option, there are those who dare to carve out a new and unconventional path of their own. Even when faced with moments of uncertainty and discouragement, these individuals remained steadfast in their commitment to the path of their forefathers, determined to achieve their ultimate goal of security and stability for themselves and their families. As for this family, they have taken the path of questioning the conventional, a path fraught with danger and obstacles that few choose to tread. They have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of contemplation and reflection, valuing and prioritizing the mind as a gift from God and a means of discerning the path of truth, which is the path of God. In doing so, these souls have fulfilled their obligation to God and to themselves. No matter what challenges or afflictions may come their way, they will not waver from the pursuit of truth and reality. "My reflections on the events of my journey began from my prison cell, where I sat in a corner of that cramped, dark room, almost in a daze, scrutinizing every corner and closely examining the faces of those around me to fully grasp the reality of the situation. Were the things I saw with my own eyes really the truth?" Dr. Sawsan Hosni is a university professor and author. She was among the first group of girls to graduate from Al-Azhar University, and then continued her education for a Master's degree and doctorate in the same field. She taught Arabic language and literature in several countries, whether for Arabic speakers or non-Arabic speakers. She worked as a linguistic expert in Chinese universities for more than a decade, as well as at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and in the United Kingdom. She has managed some non-governmental organizations and has participated in many economic and social development projects in the fields of Education, Health, Women's empowerment, Environmental protection and other development projects. NB: This is probably not factual but rather a fictionalized account of a Muslim couple becoming Bahá'ís after reflecting on the Qur'an's verses about the succession of Manifestations and the fulfillment of prophecies. |
