| abstract note | "Servant to the Servants: Roy C. Wilhelm, Hand of the Cause of God is the biography of Roy Wilhelm, who was one of the pillars of the Bahá'í Faith during his lifetime. A wealthy entrepreneur who made his fortune selling coffee, Roy had the bounty of becoming a Bahá'í during the ministry of 'Abdu'l-Bahá, and he served the Master until His passing in 1921. When Shoghi Effendi was appointed head of the Bahá'í Faith, Roy dedicated the rest of his life to serving the Guardian. He formed a lifelong friendship with Martha Root, one of the most famous Bahá'í teachers during that period, and he was elected to the first US National Spiritual Assembly, where he served as treasurer until the last years of his life. For his dedicated service to the Faith, Roy was posthumously appointed a Hand of the Cause by Shoghi Effendi." |
