BAHA'I COUNCILS AND TRAINING INSTITUTES

Bahá’í Council for Scotland

It’s all happening!

The Council sends you its warm wishes as it prepares for a busy summer -

“Treasuring the Islands” Campaign which was launched in March on all the major Scottish islands, will be shared with the wider Bahá’í community during the Scottish Gathering to be held over the weekend of 10th - 11th June in Inverness.  This will be an excellent opportunity to share the initial plans being formulated by the Islands and the Council and also to consult on the implementation of these plans.

If you are thinking of pioneering, travel teaching or even visiting the Scottish islands you are most welcome to join us for this gathering in Inverness or contact the Council secretary for further information (see below for address).

The Council endeavours to keep in close contact with the community through liaison phone calls and visits. A welcomed means of communication has been a newsletter (suggested to be shared at the Feast) which is regularly sent to communities.

The Council’s external affairs work has increased over the last few months. Recently the Faith was represented at several events in this respect, including the launches of the Scottish Civic Forum in Glasgow and the Scottish Interfaith Council.

LINKS, a newsletter specially for the Bahá’í youth of Scotland, was launched in January and the second issue will be out soon. The Council is delighted at the enthusiasm of the Scottish youth and looks forward to many future issues.

The Council’s Children’s Task Force has been working closely with the Training Institute Board in developing programs both for communities and teachers of children’s classes. These programmes are available to all communities. In the Ridván message of the Universal House of Justice great importance is placed on the spiritual education of Bahá’í children and the necessity of their integration into the Bahá’í community at large.  The Children’s Task Force will be studying this passage and looking at ways of facilitating this integration.

After the success of Traces dance group last summer, the Council is organising another exciting dance workshop project from 1st 31st July. There are still a few vacancies for dancers - applications from males especially welcome! The  group will tour parts of the Scottish mainland and important  teaching areas in the Scottish Islands. If you are at least 15 years old and would like to find out more, please contact the tour co-ordinator, Vahid Mehrabi, Tel: 01387 811544 or the Council for Scotland.

There are opportunities for youth to do a  “summer of service” on the Scottish islands over the summer months. Youth can also help with children’s summer camps in the Hebrides. Please contact the Council for more information.

Finally, two summer schools are organised under the auspices of the Council for Scotland. These promise to be inspiring and enjoyable. See calendar of events for further details.

With loving greetings The Bahá’í Council for Scotland
