The earliest known Bahá'í activity in South Africa was the holding of Bahá'í meetings in 1911 at the home of Agnes Cook in Sea Point, Cape Town. Other early believers were Mr. and Mrs. William Fraetas from Muizenberg who had met `Abdu'l-Bahá in New York in 1912. They became Bahá'ís and were therefore the first local believers in South Africa.
