Shoghi Effendi registered at the Syrian Protestant College and started the term as a graduate student. He returned back to Haifa in the summer of 1918 after completing the year of study. [PG18-19] Ali Nakhjavani said the following in a talk at Green Acre in 2012: "... Shoghi Effendi, during the ministry of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá for a period of 18 months after he finished his schooling... and before he left for Oxford... he felt that he could be in the presence of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and try to imbibe as much as he could from his grandfather's spirit and teachings. ‘Abdu’l-Bahá accepted him to be one of his secretaries... he used to send extracts of his diary to Star of the West..."
