Sunrise/Dawn/Sunset-based reminder app

Postby brettz9 » Mon May 19, 2014 3:31 am

Hi all,

Wanted to announce a simple web app which lets you define one-time or daily reminders for events which are relative to either the current time or to astronomical events such as dawn, sunrise, or sunset. One could use the app therefore to give oneself reminders, for example, before or after the Fast, for saying the short obligatory prayer a sufficient time before sunset, or for abiding by daily morning prayers before the latest time enjoined, up to two hours after sunrise.

For now, you can try out a demo at http://brett-zamir.me/sundriven/ . I have also submitted it to the Firefox Marketplace (as a free app), so if approved there, it should be installable on Firefox for Android, Firefox OS devices, or, as a regular Windows app.

I don't have a lot of energy or free time to add features, to dress it up more attractively, etc., but do feel free to report bugs or leave/discuss any feature requests in case I may find time to get to it in the future (I have some ideas already listed at https://github.com/brettz9/sundriven#possible-todos ). If you are a developer, feel free to fork the code, make pull requests, etc.

Please note that I have noticed Geolocation errors periodically, but that may be due to my specific location or network settings.

Best wishes,
Brett

Oh, and although the app/site has to be loaded for the reminders to appear, it is using a special feature in HTML5 which allows notifications to show up even if you are not in the program.
