Postby moyo » Sat Sep 24, 2005 5:09 pm

May we call a baby Baha ? Or Bàb ? Or Hussayn-ali ?

Is there any scripture statement about this question ?

Any feeling ?

I think that in Haifa Shoggi forbad the israelian governement to put the name of a street as "Baha".

No, i know this for a fact, your cannot call you kid the Bab or Baha'u'llah. i believe you are permitted to call your kid Baha'u'llah's or the Bab's real name, but not Their titles. I believe 'Abdu'l-Baha has permitted the usage of His name, but Baha'is do not out of respect. Think about it...what if you named your kid "Baha'u'llah" and he grew up to be a serial killer? It is bad enough that there are Baha'is out there who openly do bad things, drink wine openly, disobey Baha'i law, become gays, do things that bring disgrace to the Faith's name, etc., but it would be even worse if you named your kid after a Manifestation of God and everyone knew how bad he was. Those are just my thoughts.

i think you can find this topic discussed in "Lights of Guidance," but im too lazy to check now.
