HAIFA, Israel, 23 January 2006 (BWNS) -- A new film about Baha'i pilgrimage to the Holy Land is now available as a DVD.
Commissioned by the Universal House of Justice, "Pilgrimage -- A Sacred Experience" is intended to stimulate increasing numbers of Baha'is to make their nine-day pilgrimage to the Shrines of Baha'u'llah, the Bab, and 'Abdu'l-Baha.

The film gives glimpses of the different experiences of pilgrims through personal testimonies by Baha'is from a wide range of countries such as Australia, Bolivia, Ethiopia, France, Jamaica, Mauritius, Russia, and the United States.

Filmed mainly in the gardens in the vicinity of the Shrines of Baha'u'llah and the Bab, the 28-minute film is available in English, French, and Spanish.

Due to the demand for the limited places for pilgrims, Baha'is apply by writing to the Baha'i World Centre.

Currently there is a waiting list of several years but plans are underway to reduce that period while at the same time boosting the number of pilgrims.

"In the concluding year of this period He Who is Himself the Founder of the House went on pilgrimage ."

to date I personally have never had the honor of being accepted to go on pilgrimage. I did apply was accepted to go in '02, I think '02 but could be a couple years off either way, but do to whatever force{s} that exist in this universe was unable to attend. Sometimes I do question myself about pilgrimage ... why wasn't I able to go ... will I ever get to go ... should I reapply ... ... ... just rehtorical questions ... don't need outside answers, unless of course you want to encourage me to reapply for pilgrimage ... you know I gotta be embarressed ... but on another level ... I know the Universal House of Justice is for only the pure in heart ... would I be able to survive seeing such Glory and then be told I must leave ... must leave only after 9 days ... I do not know if my heart/soul could stand it ... sometimes I try to convience myself that it was a reward that I wasn't able to go ... self delusional/neauratic nutcase / i don't know ...

... along the same line ... i got mes some dinar ... Iraqi dinar at that ... I got mes 1m+ Iraqi dinars ... I wonder if one day I could use that money to go on pilgrimage ... pilgrimage to Iraq then Haifia ... maybe my soul could withstand that .... that from greater to lesser to myselfnothingness ... maybe I could withstand that, but right now I cry writing this nore ... I cry a thousand tears for reasons that even I don't know ... let alone to try ... to try to comprehend ... I don't know ...

just like i don't know .... oh well ... never mind ... I guess I must apply for pilgrimage again ... someday soon I will reapply ... and welll I guess I will have to just be embareessed ... grow up ... swallow my pride ... and enjoy

Pilgrimage is not an obligation for baha’is.
The place is very beautiful, shall we say romantic?
Putting your hand on and praying in front of any tomb
Won’t change an iota in your life, except in your own imagination.
Going to Haifa does not validate you a passport for the afterlife.

The 2 minute video just shows the reaction of 3 neurotics.
The real pilgrimage you have to make, is inside you, not outside.
The Bab said that clearly, but primitive minds do not understand much.

I think I am going to myself a totem, just to see the effect of it.

Majnun, much times it seems you joke in this forum. In fact pilgrimage law is obligatory specially for men, see note 54 of the Most Holy Book. Spiritual laws such pilgrimage is a spiritual experience, a very important one, if you don't understand it, you should not try to underestimate it.
