Ruhi Online?

Postby Omid Townsend » Mon Jan 12, 2004 8:46 pm

Some Baha'is are not in an imediate area or proximity with other Baha'is. Perhaps an online forum and website can be established for Baha'is who would like to go through the process and sequence of trainning books. This I guess is a first idea...Yes the Ruhi course is designed for people to get together physically and discuss things face to face, but what if an online forum was developed. This way it would enable people from all over the world to read each others opinions and so on. A chat room could deal with the dynamic of a disscussion, right?

You may be interested that there is a tentative, nonauthorized attempt to do this at http://www.bobarrington.org/ruhi1/ .

Also, if you decide to start your own chat for it (say on YahooGroups), you can add news of it to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bahaichatsdiscuss/ (I have just started the site so there are no other members as of yet...I was thinking that if no one else was doing it, we could have a storehouse of information about live chats and timed discussions, etc., on whatever book, training course, topic, meeting format, etc.)

That would be great Brett and I would love to participate...However I think if we wanted to be organized like you said the chats would need to be timed and scheduled...I'll spread the word and see what others think too...

Hi Omid (and hey Brett! -- thanks for linking me to this forum -- another great site I'll have to check out more)

I think the Ruhi online idea is great -- there's been a little discussion about that, among other online chat and community-purpose possibilities, at the Planet Baha'i forums.

I think the bahaichatdiscuss group that Brett put up, and which looks like you joined, should work great to schedule things, keep folks up to date, etcetera. Here's the latest consultative approach there:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/planetba ... /?msg=2658

(not sure if that link will work but if not just search for thread #2658 at the PB forums, or look for "L.I.V.E. Online Gatherings" as the topic in the "Community Issues" category)

I'm hoping to put together a webpage or two to facilitate some initial simpler chats, using Planet Baha'i chatroom functionality for now at least. And though it looks like the stuff for Ruhi on Bob Arrington's site that Brett posted above may have been done awhile back, I sent a message to him to see what's up or possible, lately, via the ICQ pager thing at the bottom of his Ruhi page....

So hopefully all these various avenues can come together, soon or eventually.... Definitely a good idea, seems to me, and timely -- for study circles using Ruhi 1 to start, most particularly.

I'm reachable if you wish, or if you have any feedback or ideas etcetera, at seymourgull@comcast.net -- haven't registered here at this site yet though I have to check it out more soon and get "official" here too. But I'll plan to check back here for sure to see what's up on this thread, also.

in Love with Light,
David

Oops, sorry, I meant here's the latest consultative approach at PlanetBahai -- was mixing up too many different online means at once, heheh. I don't thing there's any messages yet at the Yahoo group, which the probably sounds like I was going to link you to -- but you know that I think because looks like you've joined that ;^)
