For numismatists, it’s Nirvana.
For the rest of us, it’s just pretty darn interesting.

The U.S. Treasury Department’s "Billion Dollar Display" starts tomorrow and lasts four days at the Colorado Convention Center, Hall C, 700 14th St.

In addition to the unveiling of the 1933 Double Eagle gold pieces by the United States Mint, the exhibition offers the first Denver display of 19th century Colorado gold coins and gold bars from the Smithsonian's National Numismatic Collection.

And there are private exhibits of America's first gold coin, the legendary Brasher Doubloon, insured for $6 million, and the first silver dollar struck at the United States Mint in 1794 that is insured for $10 million.

The unveiling of the Double Eagles is at 9:45 a.m. tomorrow, and the show is then open 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. for the rest of the exhibit.

And best of all, all events are free to the public.
