O Pope! Rend the veils asunder. He Who is the Lord of Lords is come overshadowed with clouds, and the decree hath been fulfilled by God |
| abstract | Announces the return of Christ, ‘come down from Heaven even as He came down from it the first time’; warns of the ‘veils of human learning’ that threaten to obscure this truth; calls on the monks to come forth from their seclusion; summons the people of all religions to hasten unto the most great Ocean; asserts the power of His revelation to overcome all opposition; bids the Pope to abandon his worldly riches and adornments; and proclaims to the Christians that John the Baptist has reappeared in the person of the Báb while the promised Father foretold by Isaiah and the Comforter promised by Christ has appeared in the person of Bahá’u’lláh. |
