Security beefed up in Indian capital after temple attack"Special alert has been sounded all over the city and we are taking all necessary steps," Joint Commissioner of Police Satish Chandra was quoted by the Press Trust of India (PTI) as saying Wednesday. Tight security arrangements have been made particularly in the sprawling Chhatarpur temple complex, the ISKCON temple, the Baha'i temple, Malai Mandir, Laxmi Narayan temple, the Hanuman temples at Connaught Place and Yamuna Bazar, Gaurish temple in Chandni Chowk and other prominent shrines, police said. Police personnel have also been deployed outside important temples, churches, mosques, Buddhist monasteries and Jain temples, according to PTI. Devotees were being frisked and their vehicles being checked before allowing entry, the sources said. Security in and around other government buildings, particularly the VIP areas and the Diplomatic Enclave, has also been tightened with intense patrolling and increased number of barricades and additional deployment of police and paramilitary personnel, PTI reported. Three militants attacked the Swaminarain temple in Gujarat Tuesday, killing at least 30 people and injuring some 100.
