Abstract: This paper analyzes a pivotal letter penned by Ḥájí Mírzá Áqásí to the ʿulamā (learned divines) of Isfahán in December 1846, which played a decisive role in inciting clerical opposition to the Báb. It contextualizes the letter within the Báb’s six-month sojourn in Isfahán under the protection of Manūchehr Khān. The study highlights how Áqásí’s rhetoric framed the Báb’s claims as heretical and justified His exile to MáKú.
