1. Transcript (see video below)Bahai - A Documentary on Lotus Templeyoutube.com/watch?v=YOHDPnrtBc4 uploaded by QED Communications 2012 May 04 3:52 minutes Video description: A short video seeking to reflect, through music, images and interviews with government officials as well as citizens, the serenity and universality in the public perception of Delhi's Baha'i temple - - - - - [Narrator] From the heart of India's bustling capital city rises the Lotus of Bahapur. In a city that is pulsating with life and bursting at the seams, with a million new trees [Music] - the Baha’i House of Worship is a centre of calm, an oasis of peace and a beacon of harmony - illuminating the Delhi skyline and the hearts of its people. [Subodh Kant Sahay, Minister of Tourism, Government of India] The Baha'i house of worship has proved itself to be a milestone in the tourism map of Delhi, where people not only from India, but from across the globe, come here and connect with their God. [Music] [Narrator] The fundamental message of the Baha'i faith (is) that of oneness - oneness of humanity, oneness of religion and oneness of God. [Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Delhi] Everybody basically believes in one God and that feeling that there is one God, and that there is harmony in that, comes out in the Baha'i temple. When you go to visit that, you do not think of God with a particular name that a religion may be associating that God with. Here you think of God, you think of the oneness of mankind, the oneness of humanity. People who live here are very proud of that building because it's really iconic and beautiful. [Song] [Narrator] In a city that is as diverse as the people who call it home, the Baha'i House of Worship celebrates 25 years as an eternal symbol of unity, welcoming people of all faiths, races and backgrounds without discrimination or prejudice. Since it first opened to worship in 1986, millions of people have crossed its threshold. The temple has come to belong in a unique way to Delhi and to its people. [Deepti Bala Jha, Citizen of Delhi] The architecture and ambience here is so nice, and even though there is no idol here, we can feel the Almighty's presence all around. [Gurudev Singh, Taxi Driver] I really appreciate the environment here; even I go in at times to spend a few peaceful moments and connect with God. [Narrator] For the city of Delhi, the House of Worship is more than just a landmark. It is like a great heart pumping its spiritual energy into the city and serving its people through social, educational and humanitarian pursuits. The Baha'i House of Worship has grown as an icon of beauty going far beyond its pure function of serving as a congregation space. It is a monument of tribute to human craftsmanship and a symbol of peace for the entire nation. [Music] 2. Video |
