   Birth of Shaykh Ahmad Ahsá'í in the village of Mutayrafí in the Ahsá region, the hinterland of Bahrayn. (Bahrain)

2. 1957-04-21 —
   The National Spiritual Assembly of the Arabian Peninsula was established at the first National Convention of Arabia which was held in Manama, Bahrain. [BWIM249]

   By 1962, the regions with Bahá'í communities under the Assembly's jurisdiction were the Aden Protectorate, Bahrain, Hijaz, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. [BW13p955]

   • From 1962 until 30 November 1967, British administered the Aden Protectorate in the southern part of the Arabian Peninsula. The constituent territories were the following: Aden (including the city of Aden and its surrounding areas), Hadhramaut, Mahra, Upper Aulaqi Sultanate, Lower Aulaqi Sultanate, Dhala, Fadhli Sultanate, and Beihan. It was known as the Federation of South Arabia and it was to become, for the most part, The Peoples Republic of South Yemen.
   • Prior to their unification on the 22 of May, 1990. North Yemen, (the Yemen Arab Republic), and South Yemen, (the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen), existed as separate countries with distinct political systems.
3. 1967-04-21 —
   The National Spiritual Assembly of Eastern and Southern Arabia was formed with its seat in Bahrain. [BW14p99; Ridván 1967; Mess63-86 p99]
   • Territory included: (Eastern) Bahrayn Island, Qatar, Trucial Sheikhs, (Southern) Southern Yemen Republic, Yemen, Hadhramaut, Muscat and Oman, Kuria Muria Islands, Al-Masirah, and Socotra Island. [BW14p157]
4. 1967-04-21 — The National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of the Arabian Peninsula was reconstituted and renamed the National Spiritual Assembly of Eastern and Southern Arabia.The seat of the regional assembly remained in Bahrayn. [Mess63-86 p77; Ridván message 1967]
5. 1972-04-21 —
   National Spiritual Assembly of the Arabian Peninsula with its seat in Bahrayn was dissolved and the National Spiritual Assembly of the Eastern Arabian was formed with its seat in Bahrayn (Bahrain). The regional assembly had jurisdiction over Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Kuwait, formerly part of the Arabian Peninsula union. formed its own national spiritual assembly. 6. 2004-06-29 —
   The passing of Gloria Faizi (b. Gloria Alá'í on 12 March, 1921 in Tehran) in Brisbane, Australia. The Universal House of Justice said they remembered with appreciation "her many contributions to the progress of the Bahá'í communities, including her pioneering in Bahrain with her illustrious husband, her work at the Bahá'í World Centre, and her devoted travels far and wide as a teacher of the Cause."
   • Gloria Faizi was born into the Ala'i family, distinguished for its service to the Faith. She met the head of the Faith, Shoghi Effendi, when she accompanied her father to the Holy Land as a child. When she was 17, she married Abu'l-Qásim Faizi, and together they assisted Baha'i communities in a remote rural area of Iran before settling in Bahrain in the mid-1940s. Their two children, Naysan and May, were born during their 15 years there. [BWNW318, BW04-05p287]

7. 2007-10-00 — In an email to Hossam Bashgat, author of Prohibited Identities: State Interference with Religious Freedom, Bani Digal, the principle representative of the Bahá'í International Community at the United Nations, is quoted as saying that in Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, and the UAE, Bahá'ís have national identity card.
