Kitáb-i-Aqdas

Application Navigation Notes

This application has been designed to be read as a book from cover to cover, to be used as a research tool to a better understanding of the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, the Most Holy Book, as well as a quick means of finding information on specific subject matter.
The Table of Contents is divided in two columns; the items in the left column will take one to the start of the selected section, the items in the right column are extras added by the programmer to aid in navigation and for research purposes.
At the bottom of every page are icons representing the next page, the previous page and Table of Contents page. These are the only navigation options available in the main Kitáb-i-Aqdas text, the Supplementary Texts and the Questions and Answers. One may also use the 'Forward' and 'Back' buttons incorporated within the browser itself.
Selection of a hyperlink within the Notes, Key to Passages and the Index will, as a general rule, open a pop-up window containing the relevant passage(s). Where selecting the link in the Index requires a long sequence to be followed (eg all of the Questions and Answers), then a new browser window is opened. Any link into the Synopsis and Codification will display a pop-up open at the relevant entry; the same will occur with any link displaying into the Glossary. When one is finished with the pop-up window, it may be closed.
Where a link has been incorporated into Sacred text itself, it has been colored blue like any other link, but has been set to not display any underlining. This has been done to try to retain the dignity of the Text without the usual ugliness of a regular hyperlink. Please note that in some older browsers or in other than Internet Explorer or Navigator, this underlining may still occur.
Selection of a hyperlink within a pop-up will display the requisite text within the same window. Navigation forward and backward is through the use of the right mouse button, where forward and back selection may be made from the pop-up menu which appears.
To move quickly to the top or bottom of a page, use, for Internet Explorer the 'End' and 'Home' keys, for Netscape Navigator use these keys in conjunction with 'Control' key.
Additional to the Kitáb-i-Aqdas are extracts from various other of the Holy Text and other Bahá'í writings which are specifically mentioned in the Kitáb-i-Aqdas. These will open within a pop-up window, but have no navigation facility inbuilt. Each update should see more of these as the text is input to the program.
