Although the language of the Writings is not what we would refer to as common English, I have found the translations most seductuve, and like beautiful poetry through which we may approach more closely the Spirit of God. The Bible doesn't read like a novel either. I have had some difficulty with Shoghi Effendi, but perhaps I can adjust. After all, if I can plow through the horrible prose of John Grisham, I can do anything.
