Dr. Kelly may or may not have had a Baha'i Burial. We simply do not know at this time since the news reports do not indicate if the Baha'i prayer for the dead was recited at the service or elsewhere or whether other aspects of Baha'i burial were or were not carried out. Mixing in other religious prayer and services along with the Baha'i prerequisites for burial does not negate the Baha'i burial service and is perfectly acceptable to Baha'is in virtually every instance of burial. We do know that because of the need for a lengthy investigation, Dr. Kelly was not buried as soon as Baha'i burial is recommended to be carried out. Even so, this kind of exception to the rule is still within Baha'i laws which require obediance to civil authority and the laws of secular governments.
