Abstract: This paper presents a provisional English translation of an Epistle revealed by the Báb and addressed to Quddús, preserved in Miftáḥ Báb al-Abwáb (pp. 208–209), a compilation by Mírzá Muḥammad Mahdí Khán Ẓaʿím al-Dawla. The work reproduces several Epistles from the Báb’s sojourn in Isfahán (September 1846–March 1847). As Denis MacEoin has observed, the original manuscripts are no longer extant, though the published texts—despite their somewhat corrupt state—appear authentic. Two considerations support this conclusion. First, the style and content of this Epistle are wholly consistent with the Báb’s distinctive mode of expression. Of particular note is a prayer contained herein, also found in the Epistle of Qāʾimiyyat addressed to Shaykh ‘Alí Turshízí. Second, while the printed Arabic contains minor typographical errors, these have been identified and corrected. The present study offers both a revised Arabic text and an English rendering of this luminous work, undertaken with utmost care and reverence.
