| abstract | Theology is not a science that begins and ends with words. The Bahá'í writings teach a theology, referred to as "divine philosophy," which has nothing to do with metaphysical hair-splitting. Divine philosophy is not mere abstraction by a conscious knowledge of spiritual reality. The three fruits of divine philosophy are inner knowledge, spiritual progress, and an enhanced capaity for loving. These fruits are vital means to attain the goal of the Baháí Faith - the oneness of humanity. Theological study is not dangerous for Bahá'ís because the writings provide sufficient means of security - the infallibility of the Universal House of Justice as head of the faith, prohibition on representing personal ideas as authoritative. |
