202-		 At the 17th Annual Geneva summit for Human Rights and Democracy, Canadian Irwin Cotler, the Founder and International Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, was honoured with the Defender of Human Rights Award. Mr Colter could not attend in person but he sent his acceptance speech in video format. [RWCHR website 24Feb25]

Note: the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development was created to be a non-partisan, independent Canadian institution. It was established by an act of the Canadian parliamentin 1988 to "encourage and support the universal values of human rights and the promotion of democratic institutions and practices around the world".
