Abstract: Among the sacred Epistles revealed by the Báb, this remarkable Epistle stands apart, its recipient, date, and precise place of revelation remaining unknown. It was addressed to a devoted follower who had sought guidance regarding his spiritual state, comprehension of divine decrees, and the trials encountered upon the path of God. Though the inquirer’s identity eludes us, the Epistle offers an extraordinary window into the Báb’s method of intimate counsel, mystical exposition, and spiritual direction. From its opening lines, it portrays the descent of the celestial expanse and the unveiling of the “Sun of Mercy,” summoning the believer to ascend spiritually, having laid aside the veils of excessive scrutiny. The text abounds in vivid symbolic imagery — limpid springs, lamps within niches, ruby tablets, and gardens of first fruits — while the Báb’s tone manifests profound affection, tender reassurance, and immense spiritual love. Preserved in the Iranian National Bahá’í Archives (vol. 98, pp. 20–23), the Epistle unites intimate guidance, mystical allegory, and cosmic perspective, illuminating the interconnection between human devotion and divine reality.
