2. 2023-12. Literary Imitation in Three Poems Attributed to Tahirih Qurrat al-ʿAyn. Sahba Shayani. The poetry of Tahirih has largely been ignored by historians, partly from politico-religious intolerance, but also because of a lack of detailed information and primary sources; comparison of three of her most famous istiqbál poems.

6. 2017. Themes of 'The Erotic' in Sufi Mysticism. Jonah Winters. Mystical writing is replete with symbolism of love and eros, and it can also be found in the mystical poetry of Bahá'u'lláh. This paper provides background for that topic by surveying the use of themes of the erotic in writings by seven Sufi mystics.

8. 2004-08-15. "To dance like Solomon": Imitation and Martyrdom in a Qajar Ghazal. Dominic Parviz Brookshaw. Maryam Bushru'i (1815-1902), a sister of Mulla Husayn Bushru'i, produced a bold, emotionally charged response to a celebrated poem by Rumi, lending a broader definition to the community of Qajar poets that transcends social, doctrinal, and gendered lines.

This classic love tale of the Middle East, quoted by Bahá'u'lláh in the Seven Valleys, is prized by Sufi mystics as a spiritual allegory of the soul's search for union with God. A literary-critical analysis of the text yields theological clues.
