notes

A contemporary analog to Marian Lippitt's Worlds of God project is Partial Inventory (Loom of Reality) (2025).

Below is a list of five worlds, with the words that have been used to describe them in authorized English translations of the Bahá'í Writings (note that the hierarchical nuances tend to get lost):

* Násút ( ناسوت ): this nether world, the world below, this nether life, the material world

* Malakút ( ملكوت ): kingdom, realm, heaven

* Jabarút ( جبروت ): kingdom, realm, heaven, dominion

* Láhút ( لاهوت ): realm (sometimes "supernal realm" or "realm on high"), highest heaven, dominion, mighty kingdom

* Háhút ( هَاهُوت ): no authorized translations found sofar; it refers to the realm of the Absolute Unknowable Essence of God.

selected quotations
(authoritative sources)

These quotations reflect common presentations of Bahá’í views; the materials below may show a wider range of interpretations and contexts:

"... As to thy question concerning the worlds of God. Know thou of a truth that the worlds of God are countless in their number, and infinite in their range. None can reckon or comprehend them except God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise..."

Tablets of Bahá'u'lláh, Súriy-i-Vafa, ¶20 (BH00354)

"... Sorrow not if, in these days and on this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have been ordained and manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly in store for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to your eyes. Ye are destined by Him, in this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys, and to obtain a portion of their sustaining grace. To each and every one of them ye will, no doubt, attain."

Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh, CLIII (Tablet of Ahmad, Persian; BH00249)

"The worlds of God are in perfect harmony and correspondence one with another. Each world in this limitless universe is, as it were, a mirror reflecting the history and nature of all the rest. The physical universe is, likewise, in perfect correspondence with the spiritual or divine realm. The world of matter is an outer expression or facsimile of the inner kingdom of spirit. The world of minds corresponds with the world of hearts..."

– 'Abdu'l-Bahá, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, talk no. 93 (17 August 1912)
