Bayan-i-Farsi (Persian Bayan)
|
The Mother Book of the Bábí Dispensation. Comprising nine vahids (unities) of nineteen chapters or babs (gates)—with the exception of the last unity, which has only ten gates—the greater part of the work was written in the prison of Mákú, but, contrary to some prevalent assumptions, the last parts may have been written in Chihriq, after the Báb was interrogated by the clerics in Tabriz. The Persian Bayán abrogates Islamic laws and traditions and sets down new laws and teachings. However, the various laws are discussed as symbols referring to deep spiritual meanings and vehicles to prepare the people for the advent of Him Whom God shall make manifest. Both the form and content of the book affirm the underlying metaphysics of unity in which all things are manifestations of an inner reality which is the revelation of God within them.

Provisional Translations of Selected Writings of the Báb, Baháʼuʼlláh, and ʻAbdu'l-Bahá; Additional Tablets and Extracts from Tablets Revealed by Bahá'u'lláh

Kitáb-i-Badi (Wondrous Book)
|
Bahá’u’lláh’s trenchant apologia of His claims, by far His longest single work, written in the voice of one of His supporters, emphasizing the importance of recognizing the truth through the eye of the heart and refuting seven specific accusations levelled by a certain follower of Mírzá Yaḥyá. The answers emphasize the importance of ‘He Whom God shall make manifest’ in the writings of the Báb, declare Bahá’u’lláh’s claim to be the fulfilment of that promise, assert that the relationship between the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh is the same as that between John the Baptist and Jesus Christ, and warn the questioner of the wrath of God.
