notes

Founded in ancient Persia by Zoroaster in the mid-1st millennium BCE, it flourished as the state religion of Persian empires. Its main teachings uphold one supreme God, Ahura Mazda, cosmic struggle between good and evil, human choice through “good thoughts, words, deeds,” truth (Asha), and the ultimate renewal of the world.

Zoroaster, is considered by the Bahá'ís a "divinely-appointed and fully independent" Manifestation of God.

– From a letter written on behalf of the Guardian to an individual believer, November 10, 1939, in Lights of Guidance, no. 1694
